Because Lake Nakuru National Park is small enough to explore in a single day, most visitors base themselves just outside the park gates or in Nakuru town itself, then drive in for game viewing. That said, a handful of properties sit inside or right against the park boundary, giving you a genuinely different experience — falling asleep to the calls of the bush rather than town traffic.
Tented camps near the park's southern gate put you closest to the flamingo shoreline and the rhino sanctuary areas, useful if you want an early start before the day's heat sends animals into cover. Lodges on higher ground toward Lion Hill or Baboon Cliff trade a little proximity for sweeping views across the entire lake basin — worth it for the sunrise alone.
